Welcome to Peshtigo Schools!
The Peshtigo School District serves approximately 1,250 students spanning grade levels 4K-12 on two campuses: Peshtigo Early Learning Center (PELC) and Peshtigo Middle/High School. Peshtigo schools pride themselves on offering varied and diverse opportunities which will meet the specific needs and interests of all students.
Great Place to Live
The Peshtigo School District is located in northeastern Wisconsin, with its school sites bordering the banks of the Peshtigo River. The river is a natural gem and attracts avid fisherman and whitewater rafting enthusiasts. Our small town, rural-like setting offers a quality environment to live and work, yet, is just a short drive of 45 minutes from Green Bay. See City of Peshtigo brochure with information on history, recreation, events, economic opportunities, government, schools, and churches).
Dedicated, Caring Staff
We have many veteran, loyal staff who put down lifelong roots in our community and raise children who attend our schools. Some are alumni of Peshtigo High School who remember being students in our district before they became staff. We have Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship Award winners.
School of Choice
Because of the Peshtigo School District's strong academic history and commitment to a wide range of extracurricular offerings and partnerships with post-secondary schools, the district is a school of “choice” for families moving to the area or exercising their option for Open Enrollment (6th highest OE rate among 27 CESA 8 school districts in 2020-2021).
Wide Extracurricular Opportunities
Students can explore a wide range of extracurricular activities including:
- 16 clubs and organizations including Academic Bowl, Drama, FBLA, Forensics, Jazz Band, Show Choir, Skills USA, Volunteer Club and more
- 26 sports opportunities across middle and high school including baseball, basketball, bowling, cross-country, dance, football, golf, soccer, softball, swim, track and field, volleyball and wrestling. Peshtigo is part of the Packerland Conference with districts including Oconto, Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay
- Fine arts including K-12 art and music curriculum and theater at the Middle/High School
Post-Graduation Success
At Peshtigo, we know every student is unique and will develop individual post-secondary plans, including direct entry into the workforce or apprenticeships, entering the military or enrolling in a two- or four-year technical college or university. We support all college and career pathways. Opportunties include:
The Peshtigo School District had the #1 student participation rate in AP courses among the 27 school districts in the CESA 8 region, according to 2020-2021 DPI report card data. Peshtigo has been recognized twice nationally by the AP District Honor Roll for its increase in both the number of students taking AP classes and those earning a score of 3 or higher on the AP exam.
What Our Families Say
See what some families said during July 2020 Community Focus Group meetings:
- "I'm proud to say my kids go to Peshtigo."
- "(Peshtigo) has a really good reputation in the area and it contributes to our positive influx of school choice. It is shown in our lack of available real estate."
- "We searched for a long time to be in the district; we didn't want to have to open enroll."
- "You can feel the tight-knit community. Teachers spend more time with the students. You still feel welcome even after graduation, staff stays for a long time, and they remember past students."
- "We were only going to move here; other schools don't have the same reputation."
- "The staff is amazing. I subbed at the elementary school when I first started. They are a team and work together. MHS is the same. I have a team of teachers around me. We put every kid's needs first. Emotionally, physically, educationally, we try our best and hardest to fill those needs."
- "We moved here for the school district."
- "We don't want to move. We love Peshtigo."
