Advanced Placement (AP) Courses
The Peshtigo School District had the #1 student participation rate in Advanced Placement (AP) courses among the 27 school districts in the CESA 8 region, according to 2020-2021 DPI report card data. The Peshtigo School District also has been recognized twice nationally by the AP District Honor Roll for its increase in both the number of students taking AP classes and those earning a score of 3 or higher on the AP exam.
Our AP program is a collaborative effort among motivated students and dedicated teachers to take college-level courses and earn college credit or placement while still in high school. Most colleges and universities in the United States have an AP policy granting incoming students credits, placement or both on the basis of their AP Exam grades. Each AP course has a corresponding exam that participating schools administer in May. AP Exams contain multiple choice questions and·free response section (either essay or problem solving).
The Peshtigo School District will reimburse 50% of the cost of the exam to the student or student's parent/guardian for those who receive a score of three (3), four (4), or five (5) on the exam. The District will pay the tuition and textbook costs associated with AP courses taught as part of the regular curriculum. Courses offered include (read more in the HS Course Guide):

Early College Credit Program / Start College Now
New programs called Early College Credit Program (UW System) and Start College Now (NWTC) were created to replace Course Options and Youth Options. These programs allow public high school juniors and seniors, who meet certain requirements, to take post secondary courses at a Wisconsin technical college or institution of higher education. The programs open the door to greater learning opportunities for students who are considering a technical career, wishing to begin college early, wanting to prepare to enter the workforce immediately after high school graduation. If approved by the school board, the student will receive both high school and postsecondary credit for a successfully completed course. The high school will grant a diploma to a student who has successfully completed high school graduation standards, regardless of whether the requirements were met at the high school or a postsecondary institution. All students taking a course through SCN or ECCP will need to complete a Peshtigo High School contract which references board policy 2271.01.
